This might point to a database problem, but I'd consider this to be rather unlikely. It might be much simplier things - someone else sat on a computer where your account key was still in the cookie of the browser. Your account key might be so similar to someone else's that he mistyped it and got your one. Try to figure out what you can on your end, we will look into it at our end, too.

Thanks for your answer. All I can tell you is that was checking out 'my account' and then went to read the posts on the message boards. It was then I saw the messages supposed to be both from me, but they are not!! I have not posted to the message boards for quite some time, but I do like to read them and see what is happening.

Regarding the messages supposedly coming from me.
Just wondering if there is a way I could get a new Account Number. I am very
unwilling to carry on using this current Number and am currently removed from this project but would love to continue crunching for Einstein.
If this means I would loose all credits etc that is fine cos I do not take note of the credits.Setting up a new account with a new email address seems to be one way but it would be complicated when sending and getting WUs from this and other BOINC projects.

You could change the eMail address of the current account to something different, then request a new account with your current eMail address.

I think there is a strong possiblity of "operator error" here. i.e. That you accidently posted and didn't realize it. I say this, because I did something similar on another board recently and I'd like to think I am not the only klutz who reads these things. Note that your "unintentional posts" didn't add any text and that their message numbers immediately precede that of your intentional posting here.
Perhaps the Message Board software could help prevent problems like this in the future if a confirmation question like "Do you really want to post this message?" were added. In the meantime, I've taken to browsing the boards while "logged out".

I would very much tend to agree with Stick's assessment. I know it's not pleasant to think that someone may have stolen your identity and I fully understand your desire to change your account details. However, think about it for a moment. If someone else had managed to crack your account, do you really think they would advertise the fact by sending a couple of apparently bungled "non-posts"? Also, why would someone desire to assume your identity? The only thing that immediately springs to mind is to take over your accumulated credits. If that were the case, wouldn't you think that they'd choose someone with a rather larger score?
I think you should just laugh it off as one of those little mysteries of life and forget about it. Nobody else is bothered by the two non-posts so don't even give it a second thought. You are "not guilty" of anything anyway :).
Cheers,
Gary.
