I tried cutting and pasting with the same results.
error message
BOINC could't get main page for http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/.
Please check the URLand try again.

Tried it without the / with no luck.
Copy all the startup messages so we can see the actual error message and whatever else BOINC is doing. Timestamps and all.
You can xxxxx out the hostid if you don't want people to know which ones are yours, that should be the only "private" info shown. But the messages up to the ones with the error all help point to the problem. Might be easier to stop and restart BOINC so they're "fresh".

Do you have a proxy/firewall/router that may be misconfigured. Some personal firewalls must be configured to allow each application access to the internet.
I get a validation conflict when I try to attach to a work project. Message reads " http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ does not begin with http://
After running SETI for years with not a problem, I am surprised at the size of this problem message board.

Brian, make sure there is no space at the beginning of the box you paste the project url in or the box you paste your ID# in, I've gotten errors like that before and all it was is that there was a space before the url & ID# ... Try that & see what happens ... :)

The dot is in the error message not the URL
