A Nobel would be outstanding - however a basic requirement of the physics award is experimental confirmation. So if you're way out ahead of the pack then the lag can exceed one's lifetime, and Nobel's aren't given posthumously.

I hope he does get over this problem and then maybe stop doing any traveling like he just did.
