And the rest of the bits are on the bottom! One of the landing costs i guess they have to factor is "clean-up costs".

On land failures i expect would be considerably more expensive in event of a RUD.

Well, assuming that they aren't forced to dive down and pick up all the toxic waste they just dumped on the bottom of the ocean.

Port tariffs go up

That didn't take long...

I'll bet he finds a new place fairly quickly that charges less!! There are LOTS of places he can dock along the Florida coastline!!!

One requirement is proximity to the launch complex. This is the closest and really the only choice.

This is just an example of bureaucratic greed. The space program has always been the driving force in the local economy and we continue to forget this. Cruise ships just place a load on the infrastructure without putting money in the local economy - great for the Orlando parks but not here.

LOL! Now that was only a matter of time. :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

It deserved to. It, like the real thing, was a well done.

Blue Origin breaking ground

Blue Origin breaking ground at Canaveral. I am assuming that Blue Origin's mission parameters will be return-to-land, i.e., no barge/port fees required. Launch time is away off but if you build it they will launch it.

Elsbeth III has departed Port

Elsbeth III has departed Port Canaveral with the east coast landing barge in tow. Strong rumors had suggested that there was an inspection due or perhaps overdue, and that it was planned to be carried out at a facility in the Bahamas. Maybe they'll get out a wiper rag and remove any leftovers from the recent hard landing at the same time.

Possibly a demonstration that the ocean is a big place with other ports available too .... :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have via SpaceX stats

I have via SpaceX stats 4:45:00AM July 18, 2016 for the CRS-9 mission. As to LEO from Canaveral then there ought be plenty of juice for return to pad.

Cheers, Mike.
