It's not a good idea to promote the 5.2.11 version of Boinc. The fact that it's downloadable only from the development ftp site means that it is a developers-only version. If it were meant for general distribution and use, it would be on the regular boinc download site, under "Approved". I'm sorry that it's getting all over the project messageboards, because it's entirely possible that it will create more problems for crunchers. Latest does not necessarily = greatest.

Hello Michael
Fair enough - I agree with you but just for the record, it seems stable enough so far. I'll let it run through the night here and see what happens. I don't expect anything dramatic tho as the bug fixes seem to have been mostly on the networking side and that works OK for me so far. As long as the crunching works well I'll be happy. Now if they could do a slimline version, I'd be happy.
5.2.11 was the "recommended" version as soon as it was released, but Rom apparently didn't update the page correctly... that was fixed pretty quick. Expecting 5.2.12 any moment now.

Thanks Bill for that info - 5.2.11 ran happily through the night with no issues so far, and I'm getting 5.2.12 now.

Hello Bill
5.2.12 fixes the problem - lovely ! Congrats to Rom. And screensaver is still fine. Now we just need to get Einstein updated so it runs faster - lucky I'm not asking much hey ? (grin)

Here not. Yes, the strange Message is away now but no Screensaver shows up. No reaction on the show Grafiks Button and no Screensaver.
Last seen the Screensaver under Boinc 5.2.8, Einstein 4.79 and Windows 98SE. Since i moved to Windows XP (same Hardware), there comes the "Are you sure you wish to display graphics on a remote machine" Message. Seti 4.18 is still fine.

Just a thought... Do you have the latest drivers for your video card? And does it support Open GL? You need that support to run the screensaver.

But since SETI works... Heck. I'm stumped.
Just babbling.
