I downloaded BOINC a year or so ago for Seti@home and had trouble so I removed it. I downloaded 4.25
but when I click it it fails to run, complaining a previous version needs to be removed. MS Add-Delete
sees BOINC but says it can't delete it since undelete file is missing. As far as I can tell, BOINC is nowhere on my computer. How do I convince 4.25 to install?

You'll have to install version 4.19 to get an "uninstall" option back into windows. 4.19 doesn't require that older versions be uninstalled first. You can download it here -

You should be able to install it, then use the available uninstall to properly remove it from the registry, then 4.25 should install after that.
