Notice the same here as far as the web pages not loading. It's usually for a very short time ( minutes most of the time ), then it just clears as mysteriously as it appears. Effects all the pages of the site when it happens.

I've not seen this in past

I've not seen this in past weeks (i.e. since reconfiguring ATLAS). Could you please record the time and post it here (preferable in UTC) so I could dig through the logs?

It often seems to happen to

It often seems to happen to me at around 4 - 6 AM UTC, but I don't have any recent cases, I'll post when it happens again

Was happening a few mins. ago from about 04:18 to 04:22 UTC (if I converted that right, 22:18 to 22:22 Central Time).

"Unable to connect to database - please try later Error: 1040Too many connections"

-edit- I wish I had the foresight and tried the update command in BOINC during that period to see if the connection was affected there also.

Are you aware that each day between 04:00 UTC and approximately 04:20 UTC the server is unavailable due to daily maintenance (of the database, I think). The time you quoted looks very much like exactly when the database accesses would have just been re-enabled after the maintenance window. Some congestion at this time would therefore be expected, I think.

Cheers,
Gary.

For me this is different than that. Apart from it not being at that time frame, when the server is down you get a message about the server being down for maintenance.

With what I'm seeing when I've observed it, first the page takes a very long time to do anything if it even loads. Then what I've gotten are either a blank page that acts like the page is loaded from all apperance of the status bar in my browser (says done in the left hand corner). Or a page from IE telling me the page can't connect. Also get pages that partially load, (usally this only happens when the pages start acting up, and just gets worse), and the forums are usually where it starts. I can get the home page but after a couple of attempts to bring up other pages on the site even the home page fails.

Most of the time like I mentioned earlier this has only lasted at most 30 minutes with most even being in the 6-10 minute range.

same here. tho since ive posted about it i cant seem to hit it at the right time any more. i "could" set up a netmonitor to pull a page every few minutes to catch it. but that would just add to the load even if it would only be one page.

edit: HA i just noticed my rac is 123. i dunno why but i think thats funny :)

I never see this behaviour here in Europe (at least not in the last months), though I check the forum every few hours between 8:00 and 1:00 UTC.

That seems to be quite "normal" (a feature, not a bug; works as designed :-), since on every forum I visit, the unread flag reappears after 40 to 60 days.

This is the first time that I've read of a daily maintenance, thanks for being in the know.
