I can't seem to get this to work.

This machine has been set to location work in the view computers screen, but is still picking up the prefs for home when I do an update.

I know it is picking up the details for 'home' because (1) the messages say so and (2) the figures used come from the home prefs not the work prefs.

Is this a bug?

Do I need to set the different value somewhere else?

This is a bug in boinc. To change the venue to work you need to manually edit the client_state.xml. On the next to last line in the file there should be a tag called host_venue and it says home. Stop boinc and change that to work and then start boinc again. It should now work.
If the line don't exists then create it right above the last line.

Just to add further

Just to add further diagnostics to this bug,

the value jumps back to 'home' when you connect to a new project and must be manually edited a second time.
