i just downloaded the recommended version of this program, but get everything working except the screensaver. How can i get this to work
There is a well known problem with the BOINC screensaver and Einstein 4.79 (the "official" Einstein Windows application). You might want to do a Message Board keyword search on "graphics bug" and read a little about it. If you really want to use the BOINC screensaver, the Einstein Beta application fixes the "graphics bug" (and, although it is a Beta program, it is very stable). You can find the link to it under More Information on the E@H home page. I use the Beta app and I recommend it highly.

Hi kxmohan09,
Welcome to the EAH project!! It's good to have you on board.
During the install of BOINC, do you remember the screen that asked you two questions about launching BOINC when you login and about making BOINC your default screensaver? Do you remember if you ticked the boxes or left them blank?
How do you start BOINC? Do you have it running as a service or does BOINC get started by having BOINC Manager in your startup group? Have you got used to what you can see under the various tabs of the BOINC Manager window?
The possible graphics bug that Stick mentions might affect you, particularly if your graphics hardware is ATI based. Can you tell us what sort of graphics hardware you have?
It would be a good idea to let your very first result complete. If you look under the "Work" tab of BOINC Manager you will see its current status is shown as "Running". As soon as it does complete and you see the status change to "Ready to report", you can go to the "Projects" tab, click on the EAH entry and click the "Update" button which has now become active. BOINC normally does all this itself quite automatically, but we want to get the result reported and saved before we see if you have the graphics bug. Now you can go to the work tab and click on the next result which will have just started processing. The "Show graphics" button will now be active and you can see if you can get the graphics to display. If you get a crash at this point you will have wasted very little as the new result will just have started.
If you have the graphics bug problem, you have two options, (1) Don't display graphics, or (2) Switch over to the beta app as Stick suggested.
