OK, the OpenGL32.dll is the latest version (but it's installed by DirectX if I am not mistaken).
I can see your OpenGL works, though not fast. The FPS numbers mean Frames Per Second, or the amount of graphics that the video card can output to screen per second. For comparison, your eyes work at 26 FPS. Anything higher and it gets more fluent.
Anything below and you'd best not use the graphics. I see measures of 0.06 FPS in there... not good.
Anyway, I have sent an email to Bruce Allen, asking him to forward it to their screen saver maker. Let's hope he answers here today.
Thanks Jord for all of your help on this.
Even though we have yet to solve the problem I have learned quite a bit about graphics.
I will check back here later to see if Bruce Allen has an answer.
Thanks again,
Ryk
I am talking to Eric Myers at the moment.
He's one of the people who made the screen saver graphics. As far as he can see from your replies you have a damaged work unit.
Please open Boinc Manager.
Tasks tab.
Select the work unit that is running.
Click Abort. (click Yes if it asks).
It should start on another work unit. When you click on the new running work unit, does the graphics button become available? Or does that one do the screen saver? Please leave the password protection disabled. And report back again. :)
OK when I hit the preview button the graphics come up however I have set the time down to 1 min. and the screen saver does not start (even after 5 min. of waiting) could that be a problem on my end?
It does not even start with a standard screen saver.
all of this started when I set the password protection (which I have since disabled)
If a standard screen saver doesn't start either, it's possible something else went awry. Do you mind reinstalling BOINC? Just start the installer file like you did before, point it to the same BOINC directory as before.
Well the problem fixed itself now it seems to be working fine.
I dodn't know what the prblem was but the screen saver was up and running when I came back in just a min. ago.
Should I retry the password protection?
I really would like to have it if not then I will just have to keep an eye on my daughter instead.
Reinstall BOINC, but this time as a service. That way you can log off of the computer, but BOINC will keep on crunching Einstein.
A service install will need the administrator account and Windows log on password.
And if you want to see graphics, or use the screen saver, you'd need a (quickly done) work around.
Then you can either log off before leaving the computer, or set your computer to log off automatically after a set amount of no keyboard/mouse access.
But I'd stay away from the password protect for now. ;)
Ok.
Thanks for all of your time and help with this I will reinstal and see what happens.
I will have to do it later though.
Pass my thanks on to those who you have talked to about this problem for me.
Thanks again,
Ryk
