I have the latest updates including directX installed on dell desktops and my Lenovo ThinkPad. After letting the screen saver run for a while, the screen freezes when I click the mouse to resume working on the computer. On the Dells I have to restart and with my Thinkpad I put it into sleep mode for a few seconds and wake it up and the screen saver clears...

Any advice would be helpful. I have installed the latest version of BONIC

Just from past experience and what I've read from others, hardware issues usually play the biggest role with the screen saver, and most of the time it tends to be video card problems. Sometimes updating to the latest video card driver can help with this. I assume when you say you have the latest updates, this includes your video card.

Also making sure you're not having any issues with over heating is important and can effect how the screen saver works among other things. Programs like speedfan allow you to monitor that. If you haven't recently, cleaning out the pc of dust and such can have a good effect in lowering your cpu and system temps. Also scaning and degraging the disk can help if it's been a while since the last time they were run. This pc is the one I'd start with, since it recently created this error and the screen saver may be a symptom of what's going on there.

There are also pc's that just don't like certain screensavers, it's the nature of the beast. Best bet is to try as many of the options as you can to optimize your system, that make sense for you, and if nothing else, there is the fact the projects run faster in BOINC when you're not running the screesaver than when you are.
