I have been having a problem with all my BOINC prpojects for the past week, or so. Aside from downloading and installing BOINC version 5.8.15, I have done nothing else. Previously, when I started my computer, the BOINC Manager automatically connected to 'localhost,' while now, sometimes it does and sometimes I have to connect manually.
If you read the Log (Messages) excerpt, below, you will see that I have sent a scheduler request. I did this because I had received no work units from any of my projects except for (around) 600 hours from World Community Grid while giving me about 3½ days to complete the six or seven tasks! I aborted these 8 units several days ago, however, they just sit 'ready to report.'
The information from the Log pertains only to Einstein@Home, however, I'm certain if you can tell me what is going on, the rest will become obvious

Question & Notes:
1. What does unsupported protocol mean? Note that
I have not aborted any units from Einstein.
2. The last line says to check network connection;
I am connected to the Internet.
3. I do not use a proxy server.
4. The URL I have been using (all along) and the
computer ID are given below.

That last line also says "Access to references site failed". The reference site meant is www.google.com
BOINC tries to ping it to see if it has an internet connection.
So when you upgraded BOINC, did you (re)allow Boinc.exe through your firewall?
