I just restarted boinc and was greeted with an error message that seems to indicate a file is missing. I tried restarting boinc but that didn't work. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

That would I do!

I have also seen this on some of our linux test systems. My understanding is that it is a bug in BOINC that is getting tracked down and hopefully will be fixed soon. Until then, please try resetting the project when this happens. Let me know if that does NOT fix the problem, please.

Ok, I think I've localized and fixed this problem now.
It was a bug in BOINC that only concerned graphical-apps.
This should be fixed now and we will upload a new linux-version as soon as possible!
Cheers,

There is an exactly the same problem on Windows version:

But as far as i see, workunits are crunched ok.

Ok, I think we've fixed this (hopefully)!
The latest windows-app (4.42) and linux-app (4.41) should not display this behaviour any more. You might have to do 'reset_project' to force a download of the latest application. Please let us know if this problem recurs.

Sorry, but it seems the latest linux-build 4.41 is broken for another reason (something went wrong in the build-process), and on many machines it simply won't work (unresolved dependdency on std++3).
Sorry for the inconvenience, we're working on replacing it with a working application ASAP!

Hi the swings and roundabouts of developing and testing applications.
We are the ginipigs as we are the early testers.
Still all in all a good stable project.
And the rapid debug of the boinc client and it developing stability will help all of us in the future, across all projects.

Yes for the most part it
)
Yes for the most part it seems pretty stable. I am concerned that it looses work when the project is reset. I have had to reset it everytime I've restarted it (bar one).
It would be nice if the client (I only run the linux command line client so this may not be an issue elsewhere) could give me some more information. For instance when I go to reset a project it would be nice if it could tell me what projects I am running and hence could reset. A simple ascii meter showing % done would also be nice and maybe a "you have this many credits and are currently ranked nth". Mostly bells and whistles, I know, but those things make the client much more appealing.
The user preference section of the website could do will a visit from the GUI design fairy as well. The back button on my browser wore out while setting my preferences.
Back to debugging my own code then :o)
