Hi,
I've been getting the following repeated errors:
10/18/2005 15:19:30|Einstein@Home|Unrecoverable error for result l1_1238.0__1238.2_0.1_T02_S4lC_3 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))
It is usually accompanied by a Windows application error dialog saying something like "instruction at 0x... tried to read from address 0x....".
Is there anything I can fix, or is this a bug?\\
BOINC manager version 4.45, E@H version 4.79.

Rob

Yes, there is a graphics bug related to running Einstein 4.79 with BOINC 4.45. So, if you are using the BOINC screensaver (or "Show graphics" option), it could be your problem. There is a fix in the Beta application (see link under More Information on the E@H home page). I use the Beta and it works very well.

Hello, Rob,
The code (0xc0000005) pertains to a known bug - a conflict between the Einstein 4.79 version and ATI vidcards. If you ask manager to "show graphics" or if you have the Einstein screensaver enabled, it mucks up the processing. If these conditions apply to your setup, you have 3 options - disable the screensaver and forego the graphics__OR__install the 4.19 Einstein app__OR__install the new beta version of Einstein, which has a fix for the graphics bug.
If you opt for the beta, be careful to follow exactly the installation instructions.
The beta and instructions are at this address:

If your setup does not fit the above profile, I am at a loss.

MIchael
EDIT: I see that Stick was faster to the draw. Good work, Stick. :-)

Hi, and thanks for the info.
Just to confirm: the the current non-beta version of E@H is 4.79, but the new beta version of E@H is 0.18???

Rob,
Yes, that is correct.

EDIT: The graphics/screensaver bug is not limited to just the ATI/ 4.79 combo, as I said earlier. It is a problem between Boinc 4.45 & Einstein 4.79, affecting ATI videocards the most, but not limited to ATI.
