I recently installed BOINC and it has yet to successfully complete a task and upload the results. Checking the Results page for each failed attempt shows an Exit status of 99 with stderr reporting "ERROR: Couldn't open existing checkpointing toplist file h1_0511.70_S5R2__113_S5R2c_0_0". There are 9 postings on the Results page thus far, each with nearly the same stderr message (only the toplist file name is different for each report).
Any help on how to track down the cause of this problem and fix it would be much appreciated.

Read this message and maybe try doing a "Reset project".

I noticed that your errors have changed from "99" to "-1073741819 (0xc0000005)" - so you also need to read this message. And, if you use the BOINC screensaver make sure your graphics driver is up to date.

Before resetting the project, please make a copy of your client_state.xml file (or better still, zip up your whole BOINC directory while BOINC is stopped) and store this somewhere for future reference (do NOT post it here because it contains "secret" information related to your account). The errors you are getting look "interesting" and the developers might want to have a "post-mortem" look on this one.
EDIT: BTW, your PC is not overclocked or otherwise showing signs of instability in normal operations? It must be several years old, so there could be some issues like "dust congestion" in the heat-sink, worn capacitors on the motherboard, etc.
