I am concerned that I have been sending in bad unusable data. My computer ID is 533692. This machine could not pass the Prime95 stress test.
My concern is that I'm am wasting cpu cycles, your time and my system time. Could these errors be the result of using non ECC ram in this home brew system of mine? Any ideas?
Thanks
Joseph

Your host is indeed returning invalid results (every third).

If prime95 fails, it is most likely due to heat or faulty RAM. Consider cleaning heatsink/fan. You can check your RAM with memtest. ECC RAM is overkill for any private PC. Besides it is more expensive and probably not supported by your motherboard.

Thanks Michael,
This has given me somewhere to start. I have had the same suspicions.

satyagrahi, Ecc is only

satyagrahi,

Ecc is only needed (or used) on server-level equipment, (Opteron, etc), and as Michael K. has said, possibly not supported for your system. I second his suggestion re: memtest86. If you want to give the memory a real thorough test, run memtest and Prime95 at the same time, test that memory under stress conditions. (after cleaning out dustbunnies)
