I have been running my repurposed crypto miner, with 4 GPUs, as a dedicated BOINC/Einstein@Home machine. It’s been running smoothly for several years. In the last week, it’s been freezing up and failing to get tasks and generally being sketchy. Anyone else gettting this? Or is it just me?

Well, it must be just you...

Well, it must be just you... or your settings... or your hardware... or just about anything.

Your request for help is more than a little vague.  Since your computer(s) are hidden and we know nothing about you, what your preferences are, what projects (other than Einstein@Home) you are running, what hardware you have, it is nearly impossible to offer any advice.

Not that I'm aware of.

The normal way to start diagnosing a problem is to go to the tasks list on the website for the computer showing the 'sketchy' behaviour.  If you see tasks that have failed, just click the 'Task ID' link for one of them and look at the std_err output for error messages.  This may very well identify the problem.

If you are unable to interpret the output yourself, just provide a link to the computer in question and someone should be able to do that for you.  If you change your settings to allow others to see non-sensitive details about the tasks your computer is running, you won't even need to provide a link.

If the machine has been running for a long time without problems and you haven't been adjusting settings, the most likely reason for a problem now is some sort of hardware issue.  Check the std_err output, as mentioned.

Cheers,
Gary.
