Hi i'm running (or trying to) the new s5 worker on a Mac PPC G3/600
on OSX 10.3.5 boinc (5.4.9) keeps returning a computational error!
I know from the forum that there was a problem running a G3 with the new worker but it implies that it was fixed, although i'm still getting an error, dunno if its the same one or a new one??
heres whats returned from Results stderr out :

5.4.9

process got signal 5

dyld: einstein_S5R1_4.05_powerpc-apple-darwin can't open library: /usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

knowing a little bit about the terminal I poked around in /usr/lib/ and its correct that the file isn't there ... so any ideas anyone?? Cheers

Problems with new S5 worker on PPC G3

Sorry for that. The problem is not the G3, but the non-current 10.3 version you are using. 4.05 ran fine on a G3 with 10.3.9.

I've just fixed that; by the time you read this there should be a new App 4.06 for PPC Mac that your client should automatically download with new work. This was tested successfully on 10.3.4, which is the oldest I could get my hands on.

Quick Question for you Bernd.

Quick Question for you Bernd. I have a MAC G3 here, but only have OS-x 10.2 . Is there an older Version of Boinc that will run with it? And if so will it still crunch Einstein?

Seeing as this was a thread relating to similar problem.

Thanks

No. Charlie Fenton,

No. Charlie Fenton, maintainer of the Mac port of BOINC, gave up on trying to port BOINC back to 10.2. Threads and shared memory handling isn't working for BOINC there.

Ok thanks Bernd. Was

Ok thanks Bernd. Was wondering what to do with this old thing. Guess if I can round up a newer copy of OS-X I will get it crunching. If not I guess it could always be turned into a web server or door stop, lol.
