Hello all,

since 2 days i cant download new WUs. The scheduler request fails with this error message(s):

19.10.2005 18:13:24||request_reschedule_cpus: project op
19.10.2005 18:13:24|Einstein@Home|Sending scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi
19.10.2005 18:13:24|Einstein@Home|Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 2 results
19.10.2005 18:15:25|Einstein@Home|Scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi failed
19.10.2005 18:15:25|Einstein@Home|No schedulers responded
19.10.2005 18:15:26|Einstein@Home|Deferring communication with project for 29 minutes and 18 seconds

Another computer in the same network runs without any problems. I have reinstalled the boinc client, restart windows and so on. I have nothing changed in this time. Any ideas about this problem?

TIA,
Frank

Problem with scheduler

There is no problem, cause that the way it works;

A request for 0 second of work means one of three things:

The computer has too much work on hand already to meet deadlines reliably.

The project has enough work on hand, and the computer is not desperate for work.

The project has used too much CPU time for its resource share recently and is blocked from requesting more for a while.

In all of these cases, the best thing to do is to leave it alone, and it will fetch more work when it is ready.
"JM7"

Except if this happens;

4.45 had a bug where work that was completed and not reported yet (still in the list) was counted as in progress (and sometimes would prevent work download). If this occurs, force a report of the work in question, and the problem should be fixed.

This particular bug is supposed to be fixed in 4.72 and later

Hi, sorry for my late

Message 18354 in response to message 18353

Hi,

sorry for my late answer, but now i have figured out whats going on. Shame on me, my firewall has blocked e@h. I don't know whats happend, i've nothing changed, from one day to another the client can't upload or download any WUs. Any FW setting (include the rule that all programs can do all) has had the same effekt. The client can't contact the scheduler. I've test this on an other computer with the same result. This computer is running without FW and that was the reason that the problem not occurs on it. In the moment i'll see to find a solution for this

Thank you for your help.

best regards
Frank
