I've had a large number of download errors for FGRB1 tasks today on Windows hosts 625 and 033 , mostly in the 16Z-18Z timeframe. My one Linux host running these tasks has received 3 d/l's without any problem. Any ideas on what might be happening?

Gord hello this task suggests your Windows firewall is keeping you safe from hsgamma rays....

This is a tad bizarre. I don't have Windows Firewall running on any m/c. I'll poke around a bit more...

I think he meant whatever security software you are running on your Windows host, not specifically Windows Firewall.

The very first message seems to be the key:
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
Both machines seem to be choking on downloading the FGRPB1 executable. Event logs show:
There is no hint of any Win task stopping the download.
The spinoff effect of having 188 dl errors is both machines have hit their daily quotas and comms have been backed off for 22hrs. Reporting of completed BRP6 tasks takes a manual Project Update.
Both machines are running 7.6.22 and until I can find the cause of the problem, running FGRPB1 has been disabled.

I wouldn't expect your event log to be smart enough to actually say exactly what was blocking the download. I would imagine when BOINC initiates the transfer and something blocks it, BOINC is advised "no can do" and so BOINC just says it's giving up - permanently!! You will only resolve this by finding and re-configuring the software that is interfering :-).
Does a BRP6 return double your quota for everything? If it does, just keep doing the manual update after each completed task. You should get back to normal quite quickly, hopefully.
Until you find what is blocking the app, you could download it separately and manually insert it in the project folder. When BOINC next tries to get one of those tasks, it will notice that the app exists and will skip the download thus avoiding the conflict (unless your security software is able to prevent the app from being launched as well as preventing the download). I've been using Linux for so long that this is all unfamiliar territory for me so the advice may be quite useless :-).
Cheers,
Gary.

Hi,
I also suspect an AntiVirus software to interfere with the download of the executable. I hope we can flush out the real error code by using the file_xfer_debug, http_debug and http_xfer_debug debug flags. Everyone who has this problem should activate them and post the snippets of the logfiles here. It would also help to know what AntiVirus software was active. We had some problems with Kaspersky products lately.Scrap my previous posting. We

Scrap my previous posting. We found an error on one of our download servers and fixed that. Downloading binaries should work for everyone again. Sorry for the errors.

Thanks Christian!
@AgentB The browser download suggested works.
I re-enabled FGRPB1. Both machines have now downloaded and are crunching FGRPB1. Success!
