For the past week or so, I have had a problem with the einstein_S5R6_3.01_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe application.

For your information I am running BOINC Einstein on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system. When this application becomes active (it is listed in the Sysinternals Process Explorer application) my 3-fingered salute (Ctl+Alt+Del keypress) is disabled. Nothing happens when I press these three keys. However, if I open Process Explorer and kill the einstein_S5R6_3.01_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe process, then the 3-fingered salute menu pops right up, until the next time the einstein_S5R6_3.01_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe is enabled.

For what it is worth, if I open up the einstein_S5R6_3.01_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe program using Windows Explorer, it correctly displays the graphic.

Is there a way to disable this application from running from within boinc or eliminate it's just recent bad behavior. I have been running einstein BOINC since 2008 without this problem.

You can fix your issue by not using Boinc as a screensaver,

Interesting! When I right

Interesting! When I right click on my desktop and select "Personalize", the entry for Screen Saver says, "None". From this I assumed I was NOT using BOINC as a screensaver. However, if I click on the Screen Saver icon the screen that comes up lists, "BOINC" as the screen saver. I don't know when this got changed as I prefer not to use a screen saver (I use a desktop slide show instead). I changed this entry to "(None)" and will see what happens.

Claggy, Thank you, this

Claggy,

Thank you, this resolved my issue. Getting both Screen Saver screens to list either "None" or "BOINC" and everything runs as expected. Looks like something happened within windows (what a surprise!)

And if you use your GPU for

And if you use your GPU for crunching, it's better to not use a screensaver, at all.
Although a slideshow should be possible, depending of the GPU load and type and card (NVIDIA 200; FERMIs {400/500series}; ATI 4000/5000(REDWOOD, CEDAR and CYPRESS)).
I just set the screen, to turn off, after 30 minutes orso.
