Problem with Boinc MenuBar.

When I run Boinc MenuBar (latest Team MacNN compile, or the usual). I get the log message "Another Instance of Boinc is Running".
I sometimes got this when eintein app did not quit with the boinc client but when I check the running processes there is no "ps -aux | grep ein" or "ps -aux | grep boi" running, so I think this is different. I am running the 0.12 version of einstein.
Has this happened to anyone else, and how do I get around it?
I don't have many work units in my queue so I could reset the project but don't want to do this if possible.

I had to completely delete the Boinc Data directory to get going again.

I had been running off a

I had been running off a different disk while maintaining my main disk, then copied the Data directory back to the main. Perhaps this is what caused the problem.
