Since the O2MD GPU app has been promoted from beta to live my workstation machine have downloaded tons of tasks for it.

The problem is that these tasks cause my GPU to "chirp". This is probably a problem with my GPU but I have never noticed with the other GPU apps (like the FGRPB1G). Since this is my workstation and located in the living room I can't have it this noisy.

So, easy solution: Just prevent this machine from downloading tasks for this app right? I set the Applications setting on the location (venue) for this machine to not download any GW tasks. Nope, I still get O2MD for GPU tasks.

How can I prevent these tasks from downloading?

This is the machine in question: https://einsteinathome.org/host/7562651

Just a question for clarity

Just a question for clarity of your request: in preferences/project/additionals settings, is 'Allow non-preferred apps' set to yes or no?

Also, might be interesting to find out if the GPU is noisy because its load is too high or too low? :-)

'Allow non-preferred apps' is set to yes. I missed that one (is it newish?). I'll set it to no and see if that fixes it. Thanks

GPU load varies between 57% and 84% when running 2 tasks. When only one task is running the chirping changes tone.

I've read about GPUs doing this during different loads. Cause seems to be coiled chokes. Been running this card for a while now. Never heard this during FGRPB1G, M@H tasks or games.

Another setting you (or more

Another setting you (or more likely someone else later coming on this thread) may wish to check:

Preference|Project|Beta Settings|Run Test Applications?

should usually be set to No unless you are enabling something specific you want.

It is my impression that setting it to Yes can get you work not otherwise matching your requests.

That setting has been set to No since the O2MD beta started.

No new tasks has been fetched since I changed the 'Allow non-preferred apps' setting. The event log says: "Not requesting tasks: don't need (CPU: job cache full; NVIDIA GPU: job cache full; Intel GPU: )". Guess I won't know if the changed worked until the machine has crunched the about 150 O2MD tasks it downloaded.

Now I have gotten some new

Now I have gotten some new FGRPB1G tasks (and no new O2MD tasks) and the machine is silently crunching two FGRPB1G tasks at a time. GPU load is between 94% and 99%.

Thanks for the help everyone.
