With the new Albert application I have the problem that my Win XP SP2 hangs sometimes and I can´t access my 2. CD ROM drive. The experts say that this is independent of boinc. I want to believe it ... but it happens on my PC only when albert_4.37_windows_intelx86.exe is running and I´m working in parallel. Therefore I decided a couple of days ago to set my personal preferences to "Do work while computer is in use? No". I had no hangs anymore since than. So this problem was solved for me but ...
the new problem is that I´m not permanently connected to the internet. When I connect manually to the internet and want to upload my results / get new work : boinc sw doesn´t do that because my preferences say : don´t work while computer is in use.
What´s wrong with me ? Did I overlook a switch which would allow me to send / receive data independent of my preference settings ? Or do I have to put this request to the wish list ?

I have same problem.
And clicking on update doesn't seem to help.
I put it to run always and hit update and then it works if there is no backlog at the project server.

As far as I know there has never been a backlog at the Einstein@Home project server!

OK, when you connect to the internet, come to BOINC, File -> Run always
Let the network stuff happen, then when finished File -> Run based on prefs
Hope this works, not needed it myself so please let us know either way. Good luck!

Good advice :
When I set my BOINC to "run always" and "net access always" (both) then it works. To set "net access" to "always" is not sufficient.
