I was fiddeling with my Droid 2 and was thinking that it would be REALLY COOL if I/we could cruch on Smartphones..Cuz next years phone are gona make my some what high end phone look like PfisherPrice childs phone. I ask my friends if I can use there Puter to crunch(they all say no when I tell them an increase in there electric bill will be noticable) So I was wondering if that is a possibility in the future. I am sure the code for such an application is not sustainable. But still a coool idea, I do not have one but what about Net Books and such?

If coding is done so that you can use your phone's OS, Id think burning the phone's cpu at near 100 percent all the time is going to put a serious drain on your battery. The batteries only have a lifespan of 500 or so recharges too so you will shorten the life of that as well. If you are running them pretty much down to zero and recharging that's going to cut a little bit off their life span as well.
Leaving the phone crunch while it's sitting on the charger may work but that may or may not be nice to the battery. Another thing I wonder is, a phone is small, it's got a lot of stuff packed into a tiny package, i don't know if they were really designed to run the cpu full bore for hours at a time, heat might be an issue as well.

1ghz crunching muscle sounds beautiful but just a few days ago someone's Droid exploded and injured his ear. You can watch that in youtube. Since crunching means nonstop loading of phone cpu and chipset which very likely the exploding risk will increase.
