What does it mean when Windows turns off my pc? I can start it again readily. This happened twice in the last two days.
Once it happened when GRD turned it off because it exceeded preference usage.
So, last night I turned it off when I went to bed, hoping to get some advice today from you people.
(not part of this topic, but something about non-validation came up somewhere where tasks didn't have all numbers, and included some letters....could this mean that ET understands words? -giggle-)

What do you mean in saying the Windows turns of the PC?
Have you been there to observe when this happened? and if so what did you see?
It is not uncommon for a Windows PC to crash all the way to the off state, and can happen for either software or hardware reasons. Are you saying your situation differs from those?
I was typing a post for the

I was typing a post for the message board, and maybe hit the wrong key or something, and it just shut down to a black screen, and the pc tower showed no on-light, really quickly. I waited about 5 minutes, turned it back on, and the screen did not "boot" up, it turned on full screen exactly where it was when it turned off - right on the message board where I was when it shut down.
I turned it completely off to rest and went to bed. It's been on since 9 am today (et) with no problem, and I've been on the net quite a bit looking for 'stuff.
I'm pretty sure that something said that "Windows shut down" or something like that - either my screen before it went black or the grd desktop messages. Can't remember.

I think you pressed on keyboard "Sleep" button. What is sleep:
"Sleep is a power-saving state that allows a computer to quickly resume full-power operation (typically within several seconds) when you want to start working again. Putting your computer into the sleep state is like pausing a DVD player—the computer immediately stops what it’s doing and is ready to start again when you want to resume working."

I had forgotten that

I had forgotten that incident, tho it scared me. But you figured it out alright, and I know why it happened.
For many years I used a big curved ergonomic keyboard and it died over a month ago. So I just got a cheap regular keyboard and you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to type. The thumbs are held closer together and the back space key is something I hit once in a while if I'm lucky, but usually have to look at the keyboard.
The sleep key sounds like a good idea, but I can't imagine what I'd use it for. It does have a "sleep" key, which I'm sure the old dead board didn't have. It also has a Power and Wake Up key that the old board didn't have. I'd better start reading instructions.
Thank you so much, really.
You can turn off those

You can turn off those buttons in windows, sleep and power button separately:
Win XP: http://www.werockyourweb.com/how-disable-power-sleep-wake-buttons-windows-xp
Win 7: http://malektips.com/windows-7-power-sleep-button-action.html
I just did disable power button on my keyboard because recently I did put a few times my headphones so unfortunately that it landed on power button :D, this thread made me search for it so thanks.
