OVERHEATING!!!!!

You need to check you cooling fans. There is no way you should overheat even with the system processing like crazy. Is it a new system or old? Have you cleared the dust bunnies out lately? Do you have the computer in a bad location? Are you overclocked? Your stats say AMD 2500+.

Mystereon, As wumpus says,

Mystereon,

As wumpus says, you should be having no problems with overheating, and I'll add - even if you are overclocking to 2800 - I ran that setup crunching 24/7 for months vefore upgrading. Case airflow - often overlooked, vital for crunching. Remove the front panel and clean the dust buildup from the intake fan, usually at the bottom of the panel. Make sure that air has a "clean"path to processor, fold, reroute cables, especially IDE hdd cables, so they do not block airflow. Unscrew the processor heatsink fan and use a toothbrush (NOT a vacuum cleaner, they can generate static electricity) to clean the dust from the fins of the proc heatsink.

I'm having a minor operation at the hospital in about 3 hours, so need to grab a little more sleep, but if you're interested in successfully overclocking, let me know, I'll give you some tips - here is a description of my current rig.

Good luck,

Michael
