Nothing to put too much work in as it is a really ancient BOINC client (4.19) ...
Host 836530 has a really small cache setting, way less than a day - plus I reduced the benchmark result values because of this problem (well, of course that's cheating somehow - but in this case ...).
The box still receives way too many tasks on each request.
The problem is fairly new but I cannot tell when it started.
My idea about this : 4.19 didn't have a "Task duration correction factor" yet, so if that is included into the calculation for the amount of work sent, it might cause such a behaviour.
I do not ask for help or a fix as this client is really outdated - just wanted to report it.

Why not "upgrade" it to 5.8.16? Works really fine on my NT4 laptop. :-)

Trouble with proxy auth made me give up upgrading, the option is : 4.19 or not using this PC anymore at all. At home, experimenting is OK, at work, it is not.

I thought they fixed the proxy auth issues in 6.4.x releases (or was it sooner)? Have you tried the latest 6.4 release?

I'm using a socks5- or http-proxy on most of my hosts. The problem with older boinc versions was to make a project-connect without proxy, then set up your proxy-data and completely shut down all boinc-exec. Past a boinc-restart the new data are used.
With boinc-5.10.45, linux or windows makes mo difference, i need only to set up the data and i get connection to the world. I didn't remember if a shutdown was needed. Since two weeks i'm using 6.4.5/7 for linux and windows without problems.
