In the FAQ it states:
[b]
Each machine that does work will claim a slightly different amount of credit. For fairness and uniformity, we have adopted the BOINC/SETI standard way to determine how much credit to avoid. Since each unit of work is done by more than one machine, we use the credit claims of all these machines to determine how much credit to award. Every valid result for a given unit of work is then awarded exactly the same amount of credit.
Ok this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Why would my machine "claim" 73 when 100 is available??
2 of the 4 clients have reported in.
So if all the clients come back success does that mean that we score 100??

Hello Shaitan!
The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein.

Thanks you for the quick response.
Still confused though :P
I'm runing two FX53's a 940 and 939 pin.
Both of the machines in the 1st set of WU's worked 99.8% of the time on the WU's.
When credit was claimed they are both around 73. ??
The information you sent me to says
" When a computer reports a result, it claims a certain amount of credit, based on how much CPU Time was used."
And it futher states
"Note that the CPU time required to process a Work Unit is based on the actual time expended by the CPU"
So.... If the system ran almost 100% of the time why would a score of 73 be claimed??
Sorry I must be hard headed, because I must be reading something wrong... LOL
It also says
" When at least two results have been returned, the server compares them. If the results agree, then users are granted the smaller of the claimed credits."
LOL then no one wants to be doing the same WU's that I am :P

The claimed Credit is

The claimed Credit is calculated by your puters.
claimed credit = ([whetstone]+[dhrystone]) * wu_cpu_time_in_sec / 1728000
And the benchmark calculation is not 100% accurate ;)

Credit = 19728.14*6446/1728000
= 73.59 which is what it reported
Sounds like faster CPU's are being penalized credits for time
That makes no sense at all LOL
Plus anyone else doing the same WU's with me will be penalized to!

No, everybody using 4.2x and/or -ux is penalized.
The older client 4.1x used a different benchmark prcedure, where the windoze puter somehow managed to shortcut the calculations. That's been repaired with 4.2x, but there are of course still a lot of 4.19s around ;)

Does this mean if 4 clients report mine may get tossed out and we use the median?

As you see in your example, the highest and lowest are trown away - but the procedure differs from project to project - in some other projects it might be the lowest of the claimed credit values that are granted. Others again don't use claimed credit at all.
But here at einstein the highest and lowest of the first three succesfull resulsts are trown away and the remaining is granted all three. When the fourth result comes in, it will be granted whatever the other three has been granted.
(btw, please remember the end tags ;))
