    Did anybody happen to catch the new Numb3rs episode today that had a plot centering around LIGO, among other things? I was hoping to get some opinions about the show and any inaccuracies in it.

      I saw part of it ... it was positively awful (IMHO). For example, the 'use' of maths in the episode seemed to me more like a parody than an example, and the scenes supposedly shot inside the tunnels, [shudder].

        Yes, I really enjoy the show. Lol about the scenes shot in the tunnels. Their LIGO set wasn't up to spec that's for sure. I really don't care whether their facts are straight or not I watch for the plots.

          What is this show?

          Interesting that LIGO is showing up in fiction. LIGO doesn't have any tunnels, really. But TAMA (the smaller Japanese one) is sort of half-buried. What's weird is they have a bicycle so that you can ride from the corner station down to the end of a 300m arm to check something. The "tunnel" is so narrow that while the tip of one bicycle handlebar is brushing the earth and wood wall, the other is an inch or two from tapping the tube of the interferometer itself!
