Stopped ALL other BOINC processes.

Checked CPU loading and memory, 10G free memory, and very little CPU activity

Wait 15 minutes for free memory was the message on the BOINC manager

on a GTX660TI on an I7-4770 with 16GB total memory on Ubuntu 14.10.1

Only 1 GPU in this system

Not enough CPU/GPU memory to run Persus Arm survey

I think that message about free memory is about graphics memory on your GTX660Ti and not system RAM.
Are you trying to run more than one GPU task at a time and if so how many?
Anything else running on the machine that might consume a lot of GPU memory?
I would try to reboot the machine to clear the GPU memory and try again.

One GPU, Only running

One GPU,

Only running video for desktop and BOINC.

No other applications on GPU (one at a time - do not try to run more than one as GPU cycle seem to be the limiting items for throughput).

Not only did I reboot, but REINSTALL OS (for other reasons).

Have not gotten more since then

I agree, a GPU memory problem, as > 8GB free on CPU

I will attempt to get an update and see if the problem resumes.

This hit for BOTH Einstein and Albert at the same time. Other GPU apps had no problem (run for 1 second and stop to wait for memory)
