Einstein@Home has deleted about 40 tasks that my computer had not even started computing because no result file was found, and Einstein@Home will only allow my computer 4 tasks per day even tho it is requesting another 30 or 35.

You've been steadily returning errors. Or more like, you have a problem with the downloads, at least one file is missing on your computer.

it started with this task, which broke with:

Input file earth_05_09 missing or invalid: -163

Then quickly thereafter you started getting these:

earth_05_09
-119
MD5 check failed

Seeing that your wingmen manage to return correct tasks, it is something on your computer. Possibly a corrupt file. Make sure that earth_05_09 in your BOINC Data\projects\einstein.phys.uwm.edu\ directory is something bigger than zero bytes. Try to delete it. Or do a project reset, as it may be your public key that is corrupt.

The message you run into, about your daily quota means that to stop you from trashing more tasks, your download quota is now only 4 tasks per CPU per day. This goes down by one for every task you return incorrectly. The quota doubles for each task you return correctly.

When you examine the error output text in your returned tasks, it says that the earth_05_09 file is either missing or invalid. If you check in your E@H project folder, you should be able to find the file there. If it were actually missing, BOINC would download a replacement and it should be the end of the problem. The fact that the problem continues seems to indicate that the file is corrupt in some way. You could simply stop BOINC, delete the corrupt file and then restart BOINC. BOINC would notice the missing file and download a replacement. You should be able to fix your problem in about one minute.

Why did the file become corrupt? It's a bit tough to blame the project when it's most likely that something happened on your machine which caused the corruption. In the end it doesn't really matter what did the damage since it can be fixed so easily. Why don't you give the suggested remedy a try and see what happens?

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Cheers,
Gary.

OK, i completely reinstalled

OK, i completely reinstalled BOINC, and it has corrected the problem, but i'm afraid i have to quit anyway because my rent has gone up again this year, and i need to cut back on expenses such as electricity.
