No work from Einstein - Alberts or classic

Your client is telling you that it is not requesting new work, even tho you want it to. Update does not always request work, as you just noticed. Now we need to figure out why.

Did you read the FAQ item about my machine is not getting work? If not it's here

The link to the FAQ is on the Einstein home page and it is always useful to look there first, and if you do look there, to say that you have :-)

If that does not help, please tell us

- version of BOINC you are running

- are you running any other projects or just Einstein?
-- if ohter projects,dDo they have plenty of work right now, and what resource shares have you set for all projects

- have you just recently added a new project?

- please look at projects in the projects tab and highlight Einstein:

-- is there a resume button or a suspend button (there should be one or other of these)

-- is there a 'no new work' button or an 'allow work fetch' button? (again, one or other)

-please click on the file menu item, top right, a drop down appears. Three items on this list are, Run always, Run based on prefs, Suspend. Which is checked?

best regards,
River~~

btw, it is not a quota issue,

btw, it is not a quota issue, in case you have seen posts about this. But I have checked that you would get work if the client asked for it.

On 28 Dec your quota dropped from 8 to 6 because of two wu that were not returned (maybe your box never got these - this happens)

Then the project raised the max quota from 8 to 16.

Then you returned work on 1st Jan, and your quota doubled from 6 to 12. (next time you send work in it will 'double' from 12 to the new max of 16, unless they raise the max again...)

So as far as quota is concerned, the server would have given you up to 11 more wu on 1st Jan. The problem is that we need to figure out why your client is not asking for any more...

HELLO! I definitly am requesting new work!

Update! SAH was doing the same lack of anything since finishing all WU. Nothing for either EAH or SAH for three days, SINCE STARTING TO CRUNCH FOR CLIMATE PREDICTION! I suspended CP and reset both SAH & EAH and EAH reset and started to download WUs. SAH is attempting to fetch work but singing the same old song, "No work from project".......Now I will have to find out why CP seems to stall other projects.

I would bet at some point recently (before the problem started) there were messages with things like 'overcommited' and 'earliest deadline first' in them on your computer. This is a natural occurance where BOINC sees a possible problem getting work returned by the deadline. It will straighten itself out eventually. I would also be willing to bet that it is the CPDN workunit that will be close to the deadline and therefore it will take several months to clear up. If that is correct after then you will most likely not see another CPDN workunit for a long time while your computer only works on S@H and E@H.
