I keep getting a message that my computer has no NVIDIA GPU. Does that mean that the Einstein software only works with that brand of GPU and does not work with ATI GPUs?
Yes, E@H has a CUDA app only so ATI GPUs are not supported. Unfortunately, that's likely to be the case for the foreseeable future - despite the apparent hardware superiority of current ATI GPUs.
If you don't want to receive that informational message, go to your Einstein@Home preferences and set "Use NVIDIA GPU" to "no".
Which won't work if you have an ATI GPU in your system. It'll only work if you have (at least one) an Nvidia GPU. Else BOINC will continue the scheduler contacts (eventually once every 24 hours, if you can stay away from the Update button).
The "Use ATI GPU" option will only appear when the system detects an ATI application.

That message tells you that indeed there will be no GPU work sent, since your machine doesn't have an appropriate device built in.
However, your computer still will be receiving CPU(-only) tasks as before.
If you don't want to receive that informational message, go to your Einstein@Home preferences and set "Use NVIDIA GPU" to "no".
