HELLO THERE!
I DOWLOADED THE PROGRAMM AND INSTALLED IT ABOUT 4 TO 5 HRS AGO (SAT, MAR 05 2005 ABOUT 09:00 P.M.). HAVE BEEN CONTINOUSLY CONNECTED TO INTERNET THROUGH DSL, BUT NOTHING HAS DOWNLOADED YET TO START WORKING.
SERVER STATUS LOOKS "GREEN" ACCROSS THE BOARD.
ANY IDEAS HOW TO GET STARTED??
THKS

There are no computers registered for your account. So your computer has not successfully contacted the server yet.
Did you attach to the Einstein project? That is also needed after the download. Once properly attached your computer will then download data files and the science applications needed.
If you have a proxy or firewall they will need to be set to allow BOINC to get through them.
Leading or trailing spaces in the master URL or account key when you attach can cause problems.
If none of these ideas help please post what the message log is telling you so that we will be able to come up with more ideas.

In the windows GUI under the projects tab or the file menu there should be an option to 'attach to project'. Once you select that it will ask for the master URL 'http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu' for this project and your account key or authenticator (a 32 character hexadecimal number) which was sent to you in the email. It is the same key you used to log into the forums. Be careful not to include leading or trailing spaces.
For more help a good resource is Paul's manual at http://boinc-doc.net/index.php
Good luck

Another newbie, I understand
)
Another newbie, I understand several units have tried to upload, I keep getting the messages:
"If this happens repeatedly you may have to reset the project"
Please don't ask me to duplicate all those numbers...
I have attached to the project as instructed above.
Life can be so complicated.
Have a Great Day,
Eliz.

I guess you had with this message also the following messsage:
"exited with zero status but no 'finished' file".
If this is the case, the answer on your question can be found in the FAQ's:
Quote:
What does "exited with zero status but no finished file" mean? Is this serious?
The "exited with zero status but no 'finished' file" is a known bug in BOINC that we still couldn't track down. It tends to show up on Multi-CPU (or HT) systems, and if you look into stderr.txt in the slots directory you will probably find a message saying "no heartbeat from core client". However the Result is properly restarted by the client and will eventually finish, this bug hasn't an effect on the outcome. As long as everything else is working well, you can safely ignore this error message.
End quote.
