Interesting how this release seems to have a better guessimation of my normal Einstein WU crunch time than the previous version - time will tell...

Most likely this is because the previous version collected the data needed to get the better estimate. And the estimate now would be the same with either version.
Nope I aborted all unfinished WUs, reported them back to their assorted sites, deleted the BOINC folder, cleaned the registry and then re-installed BOINC (new version - 5.2.6) and re-attached to Einstein. The estimation is steady at 8.52 and the actual time seems to be within a minute of that time at the moment so this should get even better with time. Of course it might be pure fluke that my crunching time for an Einstein WU might be the same as the initial default time - I would need to hear from another cruncher using the new version on either a much faster machine (say a 3.0 CPU), or a much slower one such as a 1.0 CPU, to clear this up.
Small update - the initial estimation for Einstein and Rosetta seems accurate once several WUs have been done, but the time until completion needs to be sorted as this is often substantially incorrect, with figures like 1,5 hours to go, shown when the WU is 97% completed, and when the work unit has taken 8 hours, 45 mins so far, with a normal total of 8 hours 50 minutes. Possibly this will improve as BOINC works out the way my PC is used etc.

The "CPU time remaining" estimate has been fixed, but it was after BOINC 5.2.6 came out. It should be in the next version.
Do you need to go through all that deleteing just to install BOINC 5.2.6,? Is it o.k. to just install over the old version as in updating the system.
I've installed the new BOINC over the old one for about 5 upgrades now - starting with 4.45 over 4.19 and most recently 5.2.6 over 5.2.5. I've never had a problem.

Thank you for your input...I'll download the new version and give it a try...thank you agine. Will report results as soon as I'm done.

Walt,
Thanks a lot for the good news! That glitch was my only gripe about 5.x, but it did irritate me.

Michael
