Topic 195266

on one of my pcs the BOINC dir has been removed (accidentially by a sync script) this morning.

now i have tasks 'hanging' - they seem to prevent downloading new tasks.
I tried to detach from project and attach again, as well as resetting the project... but still have tasks 'hanging'.

how do I remove these tasks or change their status ?
it is machine 3311118, tasks 189643143 and 189597505.

thx

need help, one pc stuck

meanwhile I managed to connect the run_manager to the (console only) pc.
I aborted the two tasks and stopped getting new tasks for E@H.

after a while I resumed fetching tasks, but I still don't get files:
(all other pc's do not have this problem)

In your task list, only one task (189651614) is shown as in progress. The two you cited are listed as "Aborted by user".

Gruß,
Gundolf
[edit]Okay, I started my post before you finished your second one. :-)
Try an advanced forum search for "HTTP error" or "http_1_0" (preferrably over a period of more than thirty days.[/edit]

hi Gundolf,

5 minutes before your post, I wrote that I managed to stop these tasks (managed to connect via GUI to the pc).

at the moment, none of the files of the task in progress can be downloaded.
the task has been 'allocated' but can't be processed...

puhhh... seems to work right

Message 99154 in response to message 99152

puhhh... seems to work right now.

maybe I have been a bit unpatient... it took about 15-20 minutes after my last task abort to automatically work again.

thx for your answer, Gundolf.

In the log snippet you posted, the 'temporarily failed download' messages can often indicate congestion on the server. BOINC is designed to handle these difficulties and will continue retrying until the request can be completed. The previous tasks that got accidently deleted would not have been responsible for the subsequent problems when you were trying to download new work. It was just Murphy's Law that server difficulties would appear just as you were attempting to get fresh work :-).

Cheers,
Gary.
