hey all - by God's grace my old hp is up and running and live (DHCP = 1 and route add ... 1 !). So I would like to know if:
1) there is a E@H BOINC for this once magnificent now dated machine, and if there is,
2) what's the FTP address??
Thanks in advance!

Get a BOINC manager from boinc.berkeley.edu according to your OS and attach to Einstein@home.

ftp is only a text protocol. boinc.berkeley.edu is an http site.
I need the FTP site for BOINC and/or E@H.

Hi all!
Sorry, there is no version of the E@H apps ported for HP-UX.

not fair.
well, anyway, thx for settling the issue.

Well, if you're ambitious and want to demonstrate your programming chops, you could download the sources and give it a whirl. Version 10+ HP-UX is pretty close to the code base of Linux IIRC, so other than some of the primitives used to suss out your processor's capabilities that you could probably hard code around, I think a fair amount of it should compile cleanly. You can install your application build for E@H as an "anonymous platform" once you attach the client. Check out the BOINC Wiki for details. That's what a number of Milkyway@home users have done to build versions of the code that optimize for specific GPUs or the SSEx Intel instruction sets (E@H has a more intelligent driver program that automatically loads the right executable based on your processor support). I dunno if the E@H source code is available for download for private compile though.

That's correct. Porting the C version of the app, based on the Linux variant, should be feasible, but note that the Linux, Mac OS and Windows versions use hand-optimized assembly code for the Intel x86 platform, so a straight-forward port for HP-UX just using the generic C code would probably have quite disappointing performance even on modern hardware, let alone on legacy hardware.
You will also need BOINC clients for HP-UX, which can be found here .

Speaking of optimized apps, I am running an AQUA app which uses multithreading on my Opteron 1210 which is a dual core CPU. Result: elapsed time is about 50% smaller that CPU time. But I was unable to determine whether credits are based on elapsed time or CPU time. Credit system is a mess on AQUA, sometimes giving too much and sometimes too little.

I don’t think it is available for download.
In the past, gifted HaXor’s such as Crunch 3R were building their own
optimized Einstein apps which ran a lot faster but, were not officially approved.
Then__there was another coding genius named Akosf who optimized the Einstein app. and,
his great improvements were incorporated into the official Einstein app. by Herr Machenschalk.
(the main Einstein programmer).
