Hello all,
I am new to this project. I find the screen saver irritating and a distraction after viewing it a couple of times. I searched for an option to disable but found none. If there is a way to disable it please post. Thanks in advance.

Sure go into the settings and turn it off or change it, but since you chose to keep your computers hidden it's impossible to give any more info than that because no one knows what OS you are running. It's different for every different OS.

To expand on Mikey's reply a little: Enabling/disabling the screensaver is a system function, not a BOINC nor an Einstein function. You just tell your system not to operate a screensaver in general, or not to operate the screensaver offered here in particular.

I'm want to install Linux on an old Mac Pro 1,1 c/ Intel processor. The computer is retired because iOS 10.7.5 can not be upgraded and many apps are failing and are not update-able under 10.7.5. I want the computer to run BOINC, distributed-processing projects. Under iOS 10.7.5 the computer will use no more than 3 of the 4 cores for project processing. As many may know, the Intel Mac Pro 1,1 has "EFI incompatibility" problems with booting from CD and will not, as far as I can find, boot from USB without extraordinary shenanigans = I am low on the learning curve. I'd like cookbook, step-by-step installation instructions or alternative suggestion for project processing using the old Mac. If Linux is suggested, I think I would like a Mint-like distro as opposed to a less-user-friendly, Ubuntu flavor.
I am running 10 other Linux/Ubuntu computers processing BOINC project data, including 7 Raspberry Pi's from RPi versions 1 to 4.

I think the problem is your hardware is slowly becoming obsolete but I would go to each Boinc Project and see if you can't find one that still supports your older hardware. Einstein and Prime Grid tend to be more at the pointy end of the hardware requirements as their data really likes alot of processing power while some other projects can get by with a lot less.
