When I select the [Einstein status] button from the BIONC Manager Projects tab, Internet Explorer starts up -if not already started- and explodes immediately.

Congrats. Sell the computer to your nearest friendly soldier for a low price. ;)
Anyway, what do you want the EAH project to do about it? It's your computer, your OS, your installation of Internet Explorer. By saying it explodes, you tell us nothing. It's juicy errors we want to know about, the complete rap of the BSOD you get.

Just in general, if you have another browser (firefox, opera, whatever) that works properly, try setting that up as your default browser, because browser-agnostics like the manager buttons will open the window in the default browser.

I agree that details of the error could be helpful. But the old days, where an abend code S309 resulted in a hex core-dump and I had my hands on microfiches with the complete Assembler source of the S/370 MVS Operating System are long gone.
And I guess that if I send you a copy of the error report that was generated at time of the error, that does not make you jump into action to resolve my problem.
The report was sent to Microsoft, however, in a vain attempt to improve their product.
On a more general note, your comment shows that you still have a long way to go to maturity.
If this would be a UWM sanctioned response to a report of a potential error in their product, I doubt my participation to Einstein@home would contribute to pure Science. If it is a reply from another user, with fingers nervously floating just micrometers above the keyboard, I can only say: Niet eens kinderachtig, maar kinderlijk.
RE: I agree that details of

Yes, these days we use the much easier procedure of the user reporting a series of descriptive messages which makes everyone's lives a lot happier.
There are a large number of dedicated users who will jump into action to try to assist. They are much less likely to do that if they think the assistance wont be appreciated. A person was trying to assist you. You actually started the "exploder" joke and he just seemed (quite innocently) to be carrying it further. Did you notice the smilie?
Reporting to Microsoft a problem with BOINC software is probably going to get zero attention from Microsoft. However it will get attention here if you make it a bit easier for us to do that.
Do you really think that was called for? These boards try to offer help from many users so that the Devs have more time to do their thing. If you are interested in contributing to that process why not just document clearly and fully what actually happened to you?
Cheers,
Gary.

Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer, applications log or system log, any error message shown with a yellow or red tag at around the time you had the error.

Go HERE to double check on how BOINC Manager works, following the links on that page is also useful.
If you still think that there is a problem then go HERE to report the problem with as much detail as you can.
