What do you want to do? Run more tasks than you have CPU cores?
It is possible, but this will slow down the calculations enormously, as each core will have to switch between two (or more) tasks. So I won't say yet how to do it, until you explain why you think you need it.
I have a similar problem... I use a quadcore processor but only want to crunch units on one of the CPUs. In my computing preferences, I have have specified to use only one CPU, I hit update button in the BOINC manager and this is what I get:

Any help? (I use Boinc Manager v. 6.10.58, OS: Win7)
Did you use this one?On multiprocessors, use at most 1 processorsIt's only used by old BOINC versions. You'll have to set
On multiprocessors, use at most 25% of the processors
Enforced by version 6.1+

I think Allen doesn't want to

I think Allen doesn't want to run more tasks but actually has them running and wants to know how to avoid that.
If so, Allen, where do you see those surplus tasks, in BOINC manager's Tasks tab or in windows task manager?

[edit]Do you have created a cc_config.xml file for SETI CUDA?[/edit]

Yes, that would be it. Had to change it in the Manager as well. Thanks Gundolf :)
