It'd be nice if the next release of the screen saver included a feature (or option) to "wander" the Einstein@Home title and other static text around the screen. I left E@H run over the weekend on my machine at work, and now unfortunately I have the text from the upper left corner frozen on my monitor (believe it or not, it's an LCD display too). It's slowly going away, but something to adjust its position slightly periodically would be a nice feature.

Monitor burn-in
)
Most people do not use the screen saver, because it eats computing cycles, and takes longer to do the project.
I set it to blank, or shut my monitor off (saving electricity).
I blank my monitor too

I blank my monitor too (screen savers tend to drive me nuts...)
Anyways, I had a similar complaint from a user through the help desk. I linked him to this article from LifeHacker and it fixed the image persistence on his monitor.
As usual, YMMV.

I find it nice because it's eye candy and somewhat more interesting than a blank screen. And besides, I've got a hyperthreaded CPU so it tends to assign the screensaver to the HT CPU and the actual compute process to the main CPU. I know it still slows things down a bit, but what's 1 more minute of compute time between friends?
I also shut off my monitor
)
I also shut off my monitor when not in use for the already stated reasons and also because once while it was on and I was not in the room, smoke started emanating from it. Obviously a defective unit and fortunately just within warranty, I had it replaced.

lcd monitor? i would blank it

lcd monitor? i would blank it instead of using the screen saver anyway to preserv the bulb life. those arent cheap.
seeing without seeing is something the blind learn to do, and seeing beyond vision can be a gift.

I too have a hyperthread CPU - Pentium 4, 3.0GHz.
Don't waste one of the HTs on a screensaver; use it to crunch 2 WUs together!
Go to 'Your Account' - 'General Prefs' and set it to use 2 processors. Job done!
