This App features a hand-crafted AltiVec "Hot-Loop" and autovectorization for the rest of the code. It should run on all G4 and G5 systems running MacOS 10.3 or newer. Besides that, it's a "separate graphics" App.
Speedup looked impressive on my G4 PowerBook.
The App will badly crash on G3 and might not run as intended on G4/G5. Only run this if you're sure of what you're doing.

Just installed it on my G4 it continues to crunch the current WU with 4.0.3 depending on the speed improvement the first result should be ready in 3-4 days.

Uhm, maybe I should add some system information: it's a G4 400 Sawtooth running with 10.4 Tiger.

Ok it seems to work but not faster 11 hours for 58% for a 236 credits WU (validated by another computer) so 68000 seconds for 100% (Extrapolate) ; it's the same speed than the standard app. (on G5 1,8Ghz)

Installing the new app right now. ...

What's the problem with the screensaver of the standard App? Actually I never heard of any problem with graphics on MacOS. I'm inclined to think that it's more an issue of the BOINC core client than of the App, certain versions had problems on Leopard.

Finished 1 task on my 1.8ghz G5 and it was the fastest of all I have done with the G5. It took ~119000 to finish versus a prior low of ~125000. I don't know where it was in the cycle of times by sequence number, but still the lowest my G5 ever did.
I'm going to put the G5 back on SETI. Compared to the Intel Core processors, the G5 comes up short on speed for Einstein@Hone.
