Honestly I don't know. Who (i.e. which user) owns the projects/einstein folder? The same that is running BOINC?
Strange. Try to reset the project. If nothing else helps, well, then put back the app_info.xml.
Resetting the project solved the problem and einstein is running smooth again. Sorry for the "smashed" WUs. I was not able to find any cause of the malfunction. It is always worrying if problems can be solved, but the causes remain in the dark.

I had the same problem ‘de-anonymizing’ a couple of my G4s (OS 10.3.9); one of them (running the old BOINC Menubar, which doesn’t have a Reset button) trashed a few WUs before I got it working again. The other (running BOINC v5.4.9) was able to reload its lost work after resetting. I set a third to No New Tasks before messing with it; it should be through its queue by tomorrow, so I’ll see if things go any smoother without any ‘live’ WUs in the project folder.
On another topic, my G4/733 recently got a validate error on WU Nº13369861. Could it have something to do with my having the third result to be sent out, while one of the original two, which took a long time, was returned before mine?

Nope. A "validate error" means that the result sent back doesn't fit the minimum requirements for validation, i.e. it can't be compared to another result, e.g. because it doesn't uncompress properly, contains something else than numbers etc. In most cases this points either to a communication problem during uploading or a hardware issue on the host.

Thanks for the explanation. I very much doubt it’s the latter, because the system has an almost unblemished record otherwise (both here and on SETI@home & S@h Beta), and has submitted several valid results since the error occurred (without my changing anything in the slightest).
Back to the app_info removal issue … the G4/400 system that I’d allowed to drain its queue before I removed the file threw an error immediately on starting its first WU, just like the others:

Two of the results it’s sent in since then have validated successfully (with a third pending), and none are missing or showing errors, so it seems fine now.
If this app no longer needs beta testing, shouldn't it be removed from the Beta test page? I just downloaded the zip file only to find einstein_S5R1_4.26_powerpc-apple-darwin already in my Einstein folder. Sorry I didn't read every post here (such as the announcement), I was anxious to get the new app and didn't realize I as already using PPC 4.26

I am getting constant errors after deleting the app_info.xml. Have a look here for example:
http://einsteinathome.org/task/41982862
The einstein app does not seem to be marked as executable, although chmod +x does not seem to help.
Where could the problem be? Thanks for any help!
