Every time the screen saver comes on, the dock adds another boincscr task and a corresponding einsteinbinary_BRP4_1.00_graphics_i686-apple-darwin task. These can't be quit or force quit, and don't go away upon quitting Boinc manager. They also prevent system restart or shutdown, and don't show in Activity Monitor.

I am on OS X 10.11.5 beta, build (15F18b) so this might be an issue, just installed that update, don't think I saw this before. Current Boinc 7.6.220. Nvidia 980 with 346.03.10b01 web driver, CUDA 7.5.26

It won't solve this problem but turn the screensaver off and just use the power button on the monitor to turn the screen off, the screensaver is using cpu and gpu cycles and is slowing down your crunching.
