    Does anyone know if there is a way of getting links to open in a seperate window so you don't lose the board? Nothing i've tried seems to work -not that I know much about it ;-)

      Have you changed the "Display and Behavior" in the Forum preferences for your account?
      There is a checkbox to "Open links in new window/tab" in there
