Which SETI? On SETI@home I am not getting any sound.Maybe he is referring to others SETI searches, like SETIquest or SETIlive by the SETI Institute which has no relationship to SETI@home.

Oops, sorry. It was a joke,

Oops, sorry. It was a joke, part of the monlogue. If you go to Letterman's website, you can play that portion. It just showed a big room full of technicians like similar to a moonshot and everybody started cheering because they heard something..they played it louder and it was some rock song. Don't know which.

I was amazed that Letterman knew about listeners and mentioned Seti. I wonder if he has a pc involved -he's curious about a lot of topics. I had just left checking the computer to see my credits and it made me kind of happy to hear that...

Personally, I feel Seti et all already are receiving signals from ET's. What crazy people would invest in more equipment to listen if nothing had been heard by now? The govt pitches in thru some scientific group and wouldn't allow the waste of money. (Oh yes they would)

That program was repeated

That program was repeated last night. It was just a joke showing people at the JPL getting the first signal from ET, some goofy song, cheering, hand bumps, etc. Wasn't much, but if you want to see it, look up August 9 program for David Letterman on NBC TV....it was in the monologue at the very beginning.

SETI@home has not detected

SETI@home has not detected any ET signal, yet people are investing time and money in the search. This could be a subject for a PhD thesis in psychology.
