The S4 run is about to cross the 50% line!!! :-)
I think this is like sailors crossing the equator - perhaps we should have an audience with the gods like they do on ships. Not with King Neptune of course but Intel, Pentium, AMD, Athlon ..... :-)
Maybe we should all get to it and
- swab down the registers with clean bits
- address each other with valid pointers
- rescue execution threads from infinite loops
- interrupt a peripheral of your choice ( they're always doing it )
- flush the caches
etc.... you know, that sort of thing. :-)
Any other suggestions?

Did my Spring cleaning about 2 weeks ago; found lots more dust than expected, including collecting on the CPU's fan blades and also on the fins of the heatsink below it. I'll check at 6 month intervals from now on...

Aahh, you're not alone in the ranks of 'late' optimisers. But stung by your admission I've plonked akosf's S40 version onto my P4 HT 3G. Stunning - average times per Albert have plummeted from a bit more than 30K to a bit less than 8K!!
No wonder there has been floated a concern about server overload with greater WU throughput!
Ohh.. I'm dizzy.. whew ... now for the rest of my small farm..
