I'm not what you would call a 'Trekkie' but Mr Nimoy did have the great talent of taking the fans seriously. You really don't see much of that anymore, and interestingly Patrick Stewart is very generous to the fans in a like manner. It kind of reminds me of what one of the Monty Python guys ( Eric Idle at a guess ) said about fans ( paraphrasing here ): 'you treat them politely and gently. Yes we all adults and we know it's really a game, but that's the point .... it's a game we play and that's OK'.
So it's shared ideas and ideals, right ? StarTrek hit some very common buttons and that is rather more that just a mere entertainment franchise. Nuthin' wrong with that.
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

But would also like to add that I really liked his eyebrows... especially when they were on the move :) They worked just as well when playing a murderer in Columbo as in everything else he did :) Spent a whole afternoon once trying to see if I could get mine to work even half as well. It wasn't exactly a waste of time because I managed to establish I couldn't. I also worked out I couldn't quite carry off the use of the word "illogical" when addressing others :) Sad to know that he is no longer with us :(
Very touching pictures Bill, especially the last one. Thank you so much for posting them :)
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
