Dear Sir,
I want to stop donating computer power to the project because my computer becomes slower, hotter and noisier.
I hope i contribute a little to the project and wish every body on the project lots of success,
Sincerely yours,
Adriaan Jansen.

Leaving the project
)
Adriaan:
I, too, am experiencing the same problems. Additionally, I receive little or no credit for my donated computer time. Once I got a nasty message from the Einstein computer suggesting that my computer wasn't working on Einstein@home MORE than 23% of the time my computer was on and therefore wasn't going to get any workunits for a while. All this in light of the the fact that I donate twice as much time to Einstein@home as I do to two other projects. So as you might imagine, I was quite bent outta of shape over the insinuation that my computer time donation was going unappreciated. I am one day away from detaching from this project and concentrating on BTW, I have been working on for 5 years and they are very appreciative of the computer time donated. Good luck to you.

Just to say, it's understandable that people feel swamped by the "big boys". Luckily there are lots of DC-projects now - clicky here for a list. For example I think there are 3 now doing cancer research.
If you're getting PC problems then notify the Boinc-people, they'll want to know if something is wrong with the program. If you want to use Dutch, then there's plenty of them out there willing to help.
Ni!
(edit - Sorry E@H people if you think I'm trying to take participants away, but if people have problems it's better to try and sort them out, instead of just walking away.)

Adrian, it seems you have a fast machine (P4 3GHz) and Windows XP, and that should be perfectly suitable for running E@H.
To avoid your problems with speed and excesive heat, you can use Threadmaster, an utility that limits the CPU usage of an application, like BOINC.
You can find the link to download Threadmaster at:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_network.php
Be careful, after installing Threadmaster you should change program's defaults, editing Windows registry, using regedit. Read Threadmaster documentation. Here is a link to another post in this forum related to this question:

)
I'm also considering leaving Einstein. It takes so long to complete 1 wu almost the full week that they allow for time. 1 reason it takes so long is that i'm running Seti Classic and Seti on boinc and that really slows it down more. I was wondering if there is a list of the projects boinc has to offer. Is there a Boinc home page that lists and tells all the projects and what there about. I did see Sir spuddly list but i don't think that listed all the boinc projects available. I've heard of others but have not seen a list. Thanks

I don't think its a good idea run Boinc and seti classic together. You can find other projects to participate in on the BOINC homepage.

I've yanked all 26 of my boxes off of E@H for the moment.
When a suitable Linux client is available, i'll be back.

You must stop ver. 8.25! It is killing the project. I am not a programmer, but let me tell you that when I upgraded my computer to 8.25 it ceased to function. I kept trying to fix it for at least two weeks, but finally went back to 8.19. A rundll program was running would not stop. I did not have any problems with 8.19. I use Winxpsp2.

I assume you are referring to BOINC 4.25 and 4.19.. I have been running 4.25 now without any major issues.
